For Merchants:

Overview

0% APR financing is a powerful marketing tool for your site. Instead of offering a loan at the standard 10%-36% APR, you may be able to offer qualified customers a 0% APR loan with no hidden fees or charges. 0% APR  financing can be implemented for a limited time or indefinitely.

Request a 0% APR financing program

If you are looking to add a new 0% APR plan to your merchant agreement, we’ll be happy to review your account and discuss other programs that might meet your needs.

 

To help you find the best options, email us at csm@affirm.com and include any details on what you’d like to offer to your customers.

 

If you are looking to switch to an existing 0% APR Program that you already have contracted in your merchant agreement, answer the following questions:

  • Which program would you like to switch to?
  • When would you like to start running the new program?
  • When would you like this program to end? Or would you like to run it indefinitely?
     

Once you confirm the above details, we’ll initiate the change process.

 

Note, that the timeline to change financing programs is approximately 3-5 business days. This timeline can increase based on demand, so we recommend merchants send in their requests at least one week prior to the intended start date.

 

Select merchants can activate 0% APR financing programs directly from the merchant portal dashboard. After logging in, select the Financing Program tab to review current financing programs and other pricing programs available powered by Affirm’s Adaptive CheckoutTM technology. Once a merchant reviews their pricing selection and completes the appropriate documentation, the change is complete.

Update Affirm promotional messaging

If you have not already done so, upgrade your Affirm promotional messaging to use data-page-type. The data-page-type attribute allows you to customize messaging without development work. Once you have added it to your promotional messaging and after Affirm approves your program request, our Merchant Care team will enable the 0% API program via data-page-type.

 

For example: 'Pay over 3, 6, 12 months with rates from 10-36% APR' will read, 'Pay over 3, 6, 12 months with rates from 0% APR or 10%-36% APR.' Learn more about upgrading your Affirm promotional messaging.

 

Select merchants can activate time-based 0% APR promotions directly from the Merchant Portal Dashboard. After logging in, merchants can access the Promotional Financing tab to schedule a promotion and review the terms for the promotional period.

Request a 0% APR financing program

Are you a software platform looking to enable 0% APR options for your merchants?* We'll be happy to review your account and discuss other programs that might meet your needs.

  • Self-Service (Merchant-Managed): Best if you want each merchant to control their own settings. If your integration supports it, guide your merchants to log into their Affirm Dashboard to toggle on 0% APR plans directly.
  • Programmatic (API-Managed): Best for enabling 0% APR across large groups of merchants automatically. To configure this for specific tiers (e.g., 'All Gold Members') or verticals via API, contact your Partner Manager directly rather than using the general email below.

If you are looking to enable or switch to an existing 0% APR Program that you already have contracted in your partnership agreement answer the following questions :

  • Which program would you like to enable?
  • What is the desired start date for this program?
  • What is the intended duration? (Specific end date or ongoing)

     

Once you confirm the above details, we’ll initiate the enablement or change process.

 Note: The timeline to update financing configurations is approximately 3-5 business days. This timeline can increase based on demand; we recommend partners submit enablement or change requests at least one week prior to the intended launch date.

 

 

How to Activate 0% APR

If you are: Action Required
A Platform/ISV Contact your Partner Manager to discuss enabling 0% APR capabilities for your user base.
A Merchant using a Platform Check your platform's integration settings or contact your software provider to see if 0% APR is supported.

Update Affirm promotional messaging

If you have not already done so, upgrade your Affirm promotional messaging to use data-page-type. The data-page-type attribute allows you to customize messaging without development work. Once you have added it to your promotional messaging and after Affirm approves your program request, our Merchant Care team will enable the 0% API program via data-page-type.

 

For example: 'Pay over 3, 6, 12 months with rates from 10-36% APR' will read, 'Pay over 3, 6, 12 months with rates from 0% APR or 10%-36% APR.' Learn more about upgrading your Affirm promotional messaging.

 

Developer Note for Platforms:

Ensure your integration dynamically supports the data-page-type attribute. If your merchants switch to 0% APR, your hardcoded integration must be able to update the downstream messaging (e.g., 'As low as $50/mo at 0% APR') without a code deploy.

Vertical-Specific Messaging 

If you are a software platform or offer platform-based services, use the following message to market 0% APR to your customers.

Tailor your messaging to fit your industry. 'As low as 0% APR' can be framed differently depending on your vertical:

  • Healthcare / Dental / MedSpa:
    • Say: ‘Interest-free payment plans available.’
    • Say: ’Pay over time with available interest-free options.’
    • Why: 'Focuses on patient care and accessibility, not ‘financing.'
  • Home Services / HVAC / Roofing:
    • Say: ‘Interest-free payment plans available.’
    • Say: ‘Pay over time with available interest-free options.’
    • Why: Homeowners are used to ‘same-as-cash’ offers; this messaging competes directly with traditional contractor financing.
  • Retail / E-Commerce:
    • Say: ‘As low as 0% APR Financing.’
    • Say: ‘Buy now, pay later with available interest-free options.’
    • Why: Shoppers are trained to look for ‘0% APR' deals during checkout.
